OAKLEY has been a Virtual Earth / Bing Maps Partner since 2004 and is one of the top 5 partners in the UK for the service. The Virtual Earth (or Bing Maps) and Mappoint solutions can be used in many applications from simple mapping 'findmynearest' from a website, to monitoring mobile devices using GPS/GPRS for companies tracking assets and even overlaying other information onto real-time maps. This could be a utility company looking to overlay the co-ordinates of their pipes/cables onto maps or even overlaying emergency devices onto maps to get exact locations. Whether it is static or mobile information, this can all be incorporated into the Bing Maps service simply and more importantly integrated with other systems to provide business benefits.

An example of an Oakley solution can be seen on our Traffic Maps solution where this service combines data from Trafficlink (The UK’s leading provider of real time traffic and travel information to broadcasters, business and government) and Bing Maps to provide the only true UK wide traffic and travel solution showing not only major roads, but local roads also in one solution. The solution also incorporates Camera images and audio data (where available) to further enhance the solution. While this site is showing static data RAC is showing updated traffic and travel every 5 minutes.

OAKLEY is also responsible for integrating the 'findmynearest' driving test centre into the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) systems to allow anyone looking to find a driving test centre on-line. This example is a simple, yet powerful use of the system, where data regarding the type of test available at a specific location is matched to the needs of the customer and then driving directions or map information is available for printing.
